Memes, queens, and wagmi speed

Published over 2 years ago • 1 min read

Hi nerds -

I salute you from Panama, where I celebrated my 10 year high- school graduation yesterday 🤯.

With the DAO Global Hackathon coming to an end, it's been super rewarding to see how our work has even moved crypto markets.

We've also reached over 16k USD in grants for Surge after only three weeks of launching 🤩 - validating people's desire to balance the gender gap in crypto.

📷 Memes: Memes are impactful because they’re incredibly simple, while conveying so much depth.

Images with short, funny texts have proven to fuel political movements, move markets, and build social groups often faster than any other medium.

That’s why, as an entrepreneur, a great motto to have is that if you can meme it, you can dream it.

Products marketed through memes are often easy to grasp, emotion-provoking, profound in thought, and tailored to a ripe audience waiting for the message.

🔓 UX vs Security: A smooth user experience is usually at clash with a secure site.

From a UX perspective, we want the user to click in the least amount of spots before reaching the end of the funnel. However, this is usually not the most secure approach for both users and businesses.

2 factor authentication, multiple device checks, seed phrases, and complicated passwords are only some of the tedious trade-offs we make for security.

This becomes double the complicated with Web3 where wallet addresses are our online identity, carrying our assets everywhere we go.

My take? Whoever finds a smooth and secure way to transact online will be queen of Web3.

⚡️ Wagmi capitalism: Based on the conversations I have with project leaders in the space and how open they are about their wins and struggles, I’m convinced crypto’s growth is largely due to its wagmi culture.

WAGMI is crypto slang for “we’re all gonna make it”.

And wagmi speed is the velocity of progress achieved by choosing a collaborative approach over a competitive advantage.

Because smart contracts and transactions are open for everyone to see, the technology enables a space where people build in public, code open-source software, and proactively collaborating on initiatives.

At the rate that this is growing, I think it's safe to say we’re about to see the rise of a wagmi capitalism.

You may have noticed I have a sweet spot for French music. This one is no exception.

Great for dancing in the bathroom while getting ready for a night out with friends.

Hi nerds - I salute you from Berlin, a city that strangely feels like a home away from home. This week, I spoke at DappCon, a conference for developers building crypto infrastructure. In a classic Berlin style, they had deep house playing in the yard, vegan food, green juices, and a wellness conference running on parallel at the top floor. Needless to say, one of my favorite crypto conferences so far. 3_brain_farts 💪🏽 Impact-effort matrix: The impact-effort matrix is a prioritization mental...

Hi nerds - I salute you from ETHCC in Paris, where I just presented a keynote about the smart contracts behind DAOs. We’ve been working hard at Aragon to launch our new product - a permission management system - and today was the first time we were sharing it so widely! Exciting time to be building in the open 🚀. 3_brain_farts 💖 How to find the one: Image you’re an employer looking to hire a Secretary and you need to hire him/her right after the interview. Hi nerds - I salute you from the Panama City airport, about to hop on a flight to Athens, Greece. Something interesting about bear markets is that they have been breeding ground for some of the most renown names in technology today: Square, Stripe, and Uber in 2009, Airbnb and Groupon in 2008, Facebook in 2004, Adobe in ‘82 and Microsoft in ‘75. But to build successful solutions teams need to run research - so that’s what we’re doing at Surge! If you have 1-2 minutes, please fill out this...
